Or in other words, a typical real estate transaction in Bethesda! That’s actually how I describe my job when someone asks me what it’s like: one series of problems to solve after another. Some larger and more complex like negotiated home inspection items that were a surprise to all and some small like the buyer wants the white Pottery Barn cabinet in the bathroom. It’s all about negotiation at every level. Understanding up front that it will be a series of issues is one thing but it’s another altogether when the seller is confronted with these, in an already emotionally charged environment. Even in the best of situations this causes distress and an increased level of stress. Carol, nice to meet you! Bob and I had a class together today and he was showing me Twitter. Guess you’ll see me there before long!
The East Coast is different from your area for sure! My friends live in Cleveland and moved from here. I don’t think they’d ever come back… Plust they could buy a house for what a bedroom costs here.

February 4, 2008 @ 10:15 pmLove this info; I kinda figured it was ingrained, down to the smallest detail. I’m in Cleveland now and was not in real est when I lived in Maryland, but I knew how methodical some people were about wanting every last detail satisfied when I was selling a house…or listening to friends talk about it. Kind of gives me a leg up when people move here from your area! lol. I know what to expect! Good luck on all your issues! And thanks to Bob Carney for pointing out your blog on Twitter.
Nice to meet you.
