Speed Humps
Posted by Josette
Speed humps have taken up a great deal of time and debate over the last years but the 3 streets which were approved for humps finally had them installed in 2009. The immediate reduction in speed was noticed by many, but this note from the manager of the traffic camera team says it all:
We first deployed in May thru June 2009 and we had approximately 363 vehicles going over the 11 mph threshold. We deployed again after the speed bumps were installed around October 27, 2009 to November 7, 2009, we had 4 vehicles going 12 mph over the threshold. The new law went into effect on Oct 1, which states that we have to set the threshold to 12 mph on all sites. THE SPEED BUMPS HAVE MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN SPEEDS ON CROMWELL DRIVE.
The results show that the speed bumps are working and we will pull the mobile van off of Cromwell Drive and place it on a roadway that needs immediate attention.
