365 Fun Things to do in Bethesda and Bethesda Real Estate Guide-Day 10: ICE!

Award Winning Ice Display

Not in Bethesda but too good to miss!  Ranked one of the top 100 events in America, you just need to pop over to National Harbor to see this spectacular display of ice sculptures, indoor snow and 60 foot glass tree.  Through 9, 2011 so there is still time to go check it out!  But it is mostly sold out so you have to get tickets fast!

"This 15,000-square-foot attraction–a unique, interactive indoor wonderland created entirely of ice–is the crowning jewel of Christmas on the Potomac, Gaylord National's more than 50-day-long celebration of the holidays. Visitors will marvel at the striking detail and beautiful, theatrical renderings of beloved Christmas icons and memorable holiday scenes, all housed in a custom-built structure maintained at a temperature of nine degrees… Winter coats will be provided!

ICE! is created by dozens of artisans who will migrate to the D.C. area from Harbin, China to craft this elaborate attraction out of nearly 2 million pounds of ice. It takes them nearly an entire month of 12-hour shifts to transform the refrigerated tent where the exhibit is held into a remarkable icy wonderland. "
