Westwood is a neighborhood located in Bethesda, Maryland. It is bordered to the north by River Road, to the east by Westbard Avenue, to the west by Kirkwood Drive, and to the south by Massachusetts Avenue.
Westwood is a quarter-mile from the Washington DC border via Massachusetts Avenue at Westmoreland Circle. The majority of the homes are split-level style, and have been updated and/or renovated from their original plan. It is highly sought-after for its proximity to central Bethesda and downtown Washington.
Westwood is adjacent to the Westwood shopping complex—a low-key neighborhood shopping center—and is a short walk from any point in the neighborhood. Plans are currently in the works to overhaul the shopping center and expand the current services.
Wood Acres Elementary School (K-5, Montgomery County Public Schools) is across Springfield Drive, but is within walking distance of the neighborhood. Other cluster schools include Thomas Pyle Middle School and Walt Whitman High School.
In 2010, the median home sold price in Westwood was $902,500. The neighborhood is made up of 144 homes and is served by an active civic association in Springfield.
